ACC wire do not required for dashcam without ACC detection function

With ACC detection, the dash cam will switch to parking mode automatically if the vehicle engine is shut off. The dash cam will switch normal recording when the vehicle engine is on.

Battery Discharge Prevention
HK3 ACC Hardwire kits will provide continuous power to your dash cam in parking mode until your car battery voltage drops to the configured value.
Configurable Voltage Cut-off
VIOFO HK3 ACC Hardwire kits lets you set a voltage cut-off value with 4 options, when the voltage of vehicle's battery drops to the cut-off value, HK3 will stop powering your dashcam, thus protecting your battery from discharge

HK3 ACC Hardwire kits connects the camera directly to the car, truck, bus, SUVs, or big rig for continuous power, accepts voltage from any type of vehicle runs on 12 - 24V

Parking mode provides surveillance on your parked vehicle. When the engine is off, Hardwire Kit is used to provide continuous power and protect car battery from discharge.

Auto Event Detection: Automatically record when detecting moving objects or impact while the car is parking, it is like motion detection.
Time Lapse: Photography at specified intervals so that they can playback much faster than real time.
Low Bitrate Recording: Record video continuously at low bitrate to save storage space.

How it works:

ACC detection: Working with the VIOFO HK3 hardwire kit can realize ACC mode, which means a more sensitive detection for the start and stop of the car and the optimization of parking mode in a few seconds. Also, with the ACC detection feature, the dash camera supports the switch to parking mode automatically when the car engine off, and back to normal recording after the car engine on.   Car battery protection: It also applies low-voltage cutoff to prevent the dash camera from draining the vehicle’s battery.    Note: The HK3 will cut off power supply after 90 seconds to 2 minutes to prevent the car battery voltage fluctuates for a short time.

Inconsistent start up performance, attempted to troubleshoot.(Update)

The kit itself seemed fine build quality wise for its purpose but I do wish they figured some other way to place, or eliminate the ferrite choke. Dashoto provided inconsistent support for their product during my troubleshooting. I purchased the 3 wire kit as that is what was recommended with the A129 DUO but I have no interest in using the parking feature and so connected both yellow and red wires to the same switched fuse, and then later confirmed by Dashoto. They said I can't use the 2 wire hardware kit because my camera would continually record when my car is turned off.

It is possible some cars electrical systems just don't play well with this kit and so I could not pinpoint exactly what was going on in my troubleshooting efforts. I would, as anybody, expect things to just work once instructions are followed but some troubleshooting shouldn't be viewed too negatively unless you are paying a premium price I suppose. I would like to mostly just share my experience. Maybe it was a hardware or software issue on the part of the manufactures product, maybe it was a problem with my specific car, maybe it was an install issue. All I can say is that I followed instructions, checked connections with my muli-meter as best I could, and this was my experience. Once I took the memory card out of the camera to check on some events I pressed the button for and saw I couldn't read lic plates on most videos and a video section was missing completely, I decided further troubleshooting was not worth it and started a return for both the hardwire kit and camera.

Update: I installed their 4K camera and used a new Hardwire kit that has been working consistently. I connected both battery(red) and ACC(yellow) cables together. The ferrite choke is currently the only issue I’ve had with this kit.
